I love the talks on TED. The guests are incredibly inspiring, the topics diverse and always relevant.
Recently, a friend posted this talk on her Facebook profile and I just had to share. It’s a talk by Elizabeth Gilbert, author of Eat, Pray, Love .
It is helping me to shape my currently fragile attitude towards creating and rethink how I approach my creative projects.

InspirationFor many months now, I’ve been thinking of clowns and masks. Perhaps this was a not-so subtle effect of seeing a Cirque du Soleil show last year, though I can’t discount the fact that I do have a fondness for clowns and masks.
I want to join the Circus is the first painting I’ve done since college. I don’t consider myself a painter so this piece was truly experimental.
She is approximately 9.75″ long by 5″ wide. She is made of wood and various acrylic paint and media.
She is for sale in my Etsy shop.
I’m not sure what to make of this painting. It was a frustrating start and I wasn’t sure if I had the stamina to even finish it. Painting is not my strength, though I plan to continue to experiment with the media to see where it will take me.
This is a mixed-media painting using acrylic, various acid-free paper, and oil stick. The canvas is approximately 20″x16″.
In all honesty, I’m still trying to figure out how to win this war, so I can’t claim to give you the answers. But I can share what works for me in the hopes that it will help other artists out there. [Read more...]

Metamorphosis is a self-portrait incorporating an image of…you guessed it: me, and a picture taken by Flickr member Chrisada Sookdhis (whose image was used with a Creative Commons licensce).
Inspiration for this image came from our cat, Diemos, who was named after one of the moons of Mars. Yes, he has a brother whose name is Phobos, the other moon of Mars. [Read more...]
